Major Cabin Transformation

Here is where the project ended up but wait until you see how it started!

Client purchased a cabin style home that was mid-renovation at the time. So, this is where we started…you are looking up from the kitchen to a staircase leading to an upper room and bathroom. Downstairs is the hallway, bathroom, and bedrooms.

These cabinets were already in place and in good shape. We kept the boxes and built new doors/drawers so they would coordinate with the remainder of the new cabinets. Also, the kitchen sink needed a window! The open space was large enough for a custom island with seating included.

Quick detour to the finished product. I find it easier to follow along if we see the pictures laid out together.

The spacing on those outlets & switches were uneven, so we moved them before installing the full height quartz backsplash.

Much better with the window (and some symmetry with the switches)

That staircase was not safe (narrow steps), so we came up with a plan to re-route it into the hallway, which allowed us to create safer travel up the steps. At the top of the stairs was a full-size bathroom. By enclosing the whole wall, we were able to create an ensuite bathroom for the upstairs bedroom! Will share it in another post soon.

Here you can see that whole wall enclosed! And a peek of the staircase in the hallway which winds up to the bedroom upstairs. In the space below the staircase, we built a walk-in pantry! And on the right side we built a new set of cabinets with a prep sink (or wet bar?) and ice maker included.

Pantry:

Lots of outlets, of course!

Closer look at the additional cabinets with wall mount faucet set into white quartz backsplash. Lots of planning in advance required when you install quartz backsplash.

Just a reminder of where we started….

Transformation complete 🙂

I’ll share more on the bathrooms from this project soon!
